  • Awards & Learning

At St.Michael’s we look to foster positive habits for learning and behaviour through direct praise, merits and some special awards.

    House Points

House Points contribute to both collective House awards and individual recognition.

They are awarded to children for effort in their classwork and homework, as well as for consistently demonstrating the positive behaviours and values that underpin life at St Michael’s. Each point is awarded individually, with children recording their contribution by adding a tally mark to their House team scorecard in the classroom.

Every Friday, during Celebration Assembly, our Year 6 House Captains take on the important role of collating the points from across the school. Totals are carefully calculated and the weekly House winners are announced, creating a strong sense of teamwork, pride and shared achievement across the community.

    FLAME Certificate

FLAME Certificates celebrate our core values of Friendship, Learning, Action, Manners and Excellence.

Each week, during our Friday Celebration Assembly, a specific focus is shared with the children. This may link to an area of learning such as writing, PE or art, or to one of our wider school values. Throughout the following week, staff look closely for pupils who demonstrate particular effort, commitment or improvement in that focus area.

Two pupils from each class are then selected to receive a FLAME Certificate, recognising not just what they have achieved, but how they have approached their learning and contributed to school life.
